When to apply
To start in September 2022
If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 you can apply now.
The application process for primary school places (Reception, September 2022) is open from:
- Friday 5 November 2021 to Saturday 15 January 2022
To start in September 2023
If your child was born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 applications will open in autumn 2022. They will close on 15 January 2023.

Make an application
This page relates to children born on or between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018.
If you are a parent of a Year 2 child who currently attends an Infant School outside of Bracknell Forest and you need to apply for a Junior School place (Year 3, September 2022) please contact School Admissions for more advice.
Please make sure you read all the information on this page before completing your application.
This process is for Bracknell Forest residents only. If you are not a Bracknell Forest resident, you will need to apply to your home local authority. You must apply to your home local authority no matter what school you wish to apply for.
You can apply online using the Citizen Portal.
You will need to make a new account - unless you have previously applied for an older sibling.
- the Citizen Portal is not available between midnight and 2am
- for any technical issues such as password resets please email email@example.com (school admissions cannot reset your account)
- the Citizen Portal will close at midday on 15 January 2022
At this time there are limited staff in the council offices. There could be a delay to applications or documents posted by mail to School Admissions.
Where possible please apply online using the Citizen Portal.
Supporting documents can be uploaded while completing your application through the Citizens Portal. Size limits do apply. If you are unable to upload your documents, these can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All documents must be submitted by 15 January 2022.
The School Admissions team will not confirm which documents you need to send as part of your application. It is your responsibility to read the admission arrangements for your preferred schools and submit any documents required. These are all listed in The Guide to Primary Education 2022 to 2023.
After you apply
After submitting your application you must submit all the relevant documentation required to the School Admissions Team. You should refer to The Guide to Primary Education for further information. School Admissions will not confirm what documents you need to submit as this varies with each application, preference and the criterion you are applying under.
Applicants who applied online will receive their outcome by email on 16 April 2022. It is important that you use a valid, accessible email address. Please avoid using work email addresses.
If you submit a paper application form your offer of a school place will be posted to you on 16 April 2022. School Admissions will not confirm the offer of a school place over the phone.
Once you receive your offer you will need to finalise your application by accepting or refusing the school place offered. This must be done by 4 May 2022.
Failure to do so may result in the school place being withdrawn.
